Why join this training?

Enroll for this course to delve deep into electrical power system analysis using PSCAD. Grasp the nuances of effectively safeguarding these systems. Ideal for professionals aiming to elevate their proficiency in power systems, including those in power engineering and maintenance roles.

⚡Prerequisite: Basic knowledge of electrical systems or experience in the electrical industry.⚡

About the Training.....

With the increasing complexity of modern power systems—driven by renewable energy integration, long-distance power transmission, and grid stability concerns—HVDC (High Voltage Direct Current) and FACTS (Flexible AC Transmission Systems) devices have become essential components of advanced transmission infrastructure.
This live technical workshop focuses on the modeling and simulation of HVDC and FACTS devices using PSCAD, one of the most powerful tools for EMT-based power system studies. Through hands-on demonstrations and real-world examples, participants will gain practical skills in simulating dynamic grid support equipment and understanding their impact on system performance.

Training Curriculum

1. Overview of HVDC & FACTS in Modern Grids

  • Applications in long-distance power transfer, renewable integration, and voltage support.

2. PSCAD Modeling of HVDC Links and FACTS Devices

  • Step-by-step creation of a basic HVDC system and/or STATCOM/SVC using PSCAD’s graphical interface.

3. Power Flow Control and Transient Behaviour

  • Analyzing how these devices respond under steady-state and fault conditions.

4. Stability Analysis and Waveform Interpretation

  • Studying voltage and frequency behaviour, damping of oscillations, and system stability enhancement.

5. QA Session

  •  Clarify real-world challenges and deepen your understanding through expert guidance.
