Why to Join ELP!
Introduction:
The Solar Power Plant Design & Engineering course offers an in-depth, practical understanding of how modern solar power plants
are conceptualized, designed, and implemented—from site selection to grid evacuation. This program is meticulously structured
to guide participants through every critical aspect of solar power system engineering, ensuring they gain both theoretical insight
and hands-on technical skills relevant to real-world projects.
Beginning with an overview of solar plant types and configurations, participants will explore plant sizing, DC/AC capacity ratios,
and compliance with the latest CEA and IEC standards. The course then advances to site selection techniques, resource
assessment using tools like PVsyst, Helioscope, and Google Earth, and key performance parameters such as CUF and PR.
Learners will develop a strong foundation in PV module fundamentals, inverter selection, and system losses, followed by detailed
sessions on cable sizing, earthing and lightning protection, and switchgear selection in accordance with global standards (IEEE,
IEC, NFC, IS). Practical PVsyst simulations will guide participants in running performance analyses, interpreting loss diagrams, and
understanding energy yield reports.
The program further emphasizes the design of key system components—including combiner boxes, transformers, RMUs, and
SCADA systems—along with guidelines for reactive power management, communication systems, and grid evacuation. In the
concluding phase, participants will gain hands-on exposure to SLD preparation, layout design, and live project-based case studies
simulating a 10 MW ground-mounted solar plant.
By the end of this course, participants will be able to:
- Design and analyze utility-scale, commercial, and residential solar plants.
- Apply international standards (CEA, IEC, IEEE, IS) for safety and reliability.
- Use professional tools (PVsyst, Helioscope, Google Earth) for technical modeling and optimization.
- Prepare engineering deliverables such as SLDs, layouts, and technical specifications.
This course is ideal for engineers, designers, consultants, and professionals seeking to strengthen their expertise in solar power
system engineering, ensuring readiness for current and future renewable energy challenges.
